Estes


Lonnie Estes, 74, of Versailles, husband of Verna Combs Estes, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at Bluegrass Community Hospital. Born in Irvine, Estill County, he was the son of the late Lonnie Clifton and Dorothy Walling Estes. He was an employee of Texas Instruments for 20 years and retired in 2011 after 17 years from Valeo Sylvania in Seymour, Indiana. After retiring, he had worked part time for K-mart and Kroger. He was an active member and deacon at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Richard) Pluimer, Madisonville; two sons, William (Angie) Jason Estes, Berea; and Lonnie (Kim) Wayne Estes, Versailles; a sister, Ollie (John) Mitchell, Midway; two brothers, Julian (Sharon) Estes, Arizona; and Tracy Estes. Midway, seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Duane Estes; two sisters, Elwanda Montgomery and Vivian Cooper; and a brother Glenn Estes. Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, by the Rev. David Barron. Pallbearers were Vincent Estes, Seldon Watkins, Denzel Centers, Bobby Driskell, Jason Wachter and Jim Fannin. Burial followed in Rose Crest Cemetery.
