Frances Estill Rankin, 93, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020. Born on Aug. 8, 1927, in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Lora Vice Estill. Ms. Rankin was a 1948 graduate of the University of Kentucky. She was a well-known floral designer for almost 50 years, including designs for the Queen of England, President George W. Bush, President H.W. Bush, and other well-known celebrities. Her designs were used at many special events of the equine industry of Central Kentucky. Ms. Rankin was also formerly employed by Bel-Air Florist in Versailles. Her charm, hospitality, and wit endeared her to all those whose lives she touched. She was a member of First Christian Church, Versailles. She is survived by a brother, Harold Estill, Cincinnati, Ohio; her three children, Debra (Jack, deceased) Kiser, Kevin (Rancie) Rankin and Diane (Steve) Ogden; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Carolyn Florence, Allen Estill, Milford Estill and Ethel Seitz. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at The Terrace Nursing Home of Berea for their genuine loving care of their mother during the Covid-19 crisis.
