WCHS girls’ soccer squad tops entering district tourney
The Woodford County girls’ soccer team has wrapped up the top seed in the 30th District tournament, which will take place Oct. 11 to Oct. 17 at a site to be determined. They are led by seniors Killian Morrison, Abigail Wooten and Kamari Black in scoring and assists, with plenty of help from teammates. Going into the Wednesday, Sept. 30, matchup at home against Tates Creek, they were 6 and 2. Defensively, seniors Meghan Denton, Dorrah Martin, and goalkeeper Caylee Thompson helped the squad give up just six goals in their first eight games. The underclassmen have also stepped up, particularly after injuries to Reagan Cole, Anna Beth Hawkins and Victoria Caloca, to provide great passing and defense.
The Lady Jackets will take on Dixie Heights at home Monday night at 7:30.
