Woodford County had a quartet of wrestlers representing Carr Wrestling

Academy at the NUWAY Combat National Championships in Gatlinburg June 4.

All four earned All-American honors at the event.

Kaylen Escaloni earned All-American honors and took home first-place in

the girls’ high school 138-pound division in the Freestyle Championship

with a win by fall and another by technical fall. In addition, Kaylen

dominated the competition in the Folkstyle event by pinning all three of

her opponents on her way to another All-American honor and first place.

This past weekend was an absolute blast,” said Kaylen. “It was great

being able to compete with girls from other states and see teams from

all over. The competition was so much fun, and I hope next time more

guys and girls alike from Woodford branch out to compete in big

tournaments. We are one step closer to sanctioning women’s wrestling in

Kentucky.”

12-and-under 125-pound class freestyle event while going 0-2 in his

bracket. Maxx did not place in the Folkstyle event.

James Escaloni placed seventh and earned All-American honors in the

Folkstyle eight-and-under 82-pound division.James went 1-2 with a win by

fall.

Brycen Gray took home third place and All-American honors in the

12-and-under Folkstyle 76-pound weight class. Brycen went 2-2 in the
