Millville murder suspect arrested
Nearly five months after David Clark was found dead in his Millville home, the Versailles Police Department (VPD) announced the arrest of a 64-year-old Ohio woman for his murder. The VPD announced the arrest of Vicki Brautigan Wednesday, Oct. 21, by the Centerville, Ohio Police Department at her home after a Woodford County grand jury returned an indictment charging her with murder, two counts of attempted murder, first-degree burglary and tampering with physical evidence. As of Tuesday, Brautigan was being held in the Montgomery County, Ohio, jail. Commonwealth Attorney Sharon Muse, who will be prosecuting the case, said Brautigan was being held on $1 million full cash bond. Muse said if, as expected, Brautigan challenges the figure, she’d counter with “very specific reasons” for such a high bond. Muse said her office is working to secure Brautigan’s extradition. Clark, 66, was shot to death June 14. Assistant Versailles Police Chief Rob Young thanked people who’ve been following the case for their patience, calling the case a complicated matter in which police had “one shot to make it right.” “The community just needs to have confidence that their police department is working hard to bring people to justice,” Young said. Young said at one time, Brautigan and Clark were a couple. A call to from the Sun to Commonwealth Attorney Sharon Muse’s office, which is prosecuting the case, was not returned.
