Pickup truck wreck kills two

A Woodford County husband and wife were pronounced dead at the scene after their pickup truck ran off Mundy’s Landing Road and struck a tree Friday, Oct. 23, around midnight.

Woodford Coroner Ronald Owens said his office was dispatched to the scene Saturday at 12:11 a.m., where a deputy found Heather Britton, 48, and Lewis Britton, 58, of 2793 Mundys Landing Road, dead of blunt force trauma.

Lewis Britton was the driver, Owens said. Woodford EMS Director Freeman Bailey said the accident happened about a quarter-mile from Edgar Lane.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. Owens said a blood sample was taken by his office and sent to an Indiana lab for a toxicology report.
