Woodford County High School’s choir students will present their annual winter concert on Friday night, Dec. 18, at 6:30 in the WCHS cafeteria. No admission is being charged, but donations will be taken for the family of Logan Tipton. The 6-year-old Simmons Elementary School student was killed by an intruder on Monday, Dec. 7. “It’s affected our community a lot, and I think it’s something that the kids really wanted to do,” said WCHS choir Director Sarah Grubb. The upcoming winter concert will feature the Honey Bees and Mellow Jackets – two a cappella groups – and large choir performances accompanied by pianist Gina Scott. WCHS choir students will sing classic Christmas songs like “Jingle Bells” and “Carol of the Bells,” and also “Text Me Merry Christmas” – a new, fun song. “It’s like a love story about texting,” explained Grubb. She described the annual winter concert as an opportunity for her students to connect with an audience through their music. “It’s so universal … Everybody gets music, and most people appreciate it. So it’s a way for the students to have this deeper connection with their family and their friends and their teachers, and everyone who attends,” said Grubb.
