The public hearing scheduled for tonight to discuss a proposed mixed-use development on Lexington Road has been postponed at the request of the applicant’s attorney. In a letter to the Versailles-Midway-Woodford County Planning and Zoning Commission, attorney Robert C. Stilz Jr. advised the commission that a potential conflict of interest has arisen in his representation of the applicant (CRM Companies) seeking to rezone approximately 405 acres at 1450 Lexington Road (Edgewood Farm) for a proposed mixed-use development. “This potential conflict of interest arose last Friday, February 5, 2016. Due to the brevity of time between becoming aware of the potential conflict of interest and the upcoming public hearing on February 11, 2016, I have made the decision to withdraw from representation of the applicant,” Stilz wrote in his letter. “Further, you should be advised that the applicant has asked that I advise the Planning and Zoning Commission that the applicant will obtain other counsel to represent it in this matter and requests a continuance of the public hearing … to a special meeting to be held on February 25, 2016.” The hearing had been scheduled tonight, Thursday, Feb. 11, at 6:30 in the third-floor courtroom of the Woodford County Courthouse. In order to bring new retail businesses, light industrial uses as well as high- and low-density housing to the Lexington Road property located east of the Kroger Marketplace shopping center and west of Paynes Mill Road, the developer has asked for the zone change and an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan to expand the urban service boundary to include Edgewood Farm. Habitat home A hearing on a preliminary/final townhouse plat allowing Woodford Habitat for Humanity to construct two townhouses at 208 and 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard is also scheduled to come before the commission as a public hearing.
