Zone-change requests on three proposed Lexington Road developments are scheduled to come before the Planning Commission at its regular meeting tonight, May 12, at 6:30 in the second-floor courtroom of the Woodford County Courthouse. Planning Commission members will have an opportunity to make recommendations on two mixed-used developments: one at 1450 Lexington Road (Edgewood Farm property) and another at 2011 Lexington Road (Woodford Place/known as the Backer property). Both of those requests were discussed during public hearings last month and the commission has 90 days from the close of those hearings to take action. The request to rezone 405 acres at 1450 Lexington Road was lauded and criticized during a public hearing on the mixed-use proposal to develop a site for a new Bluegrass Community Hospital and land for future industrial uses. The Woodford Place proposal includes 255 residential units as well as land for office and retail uses. The property owner (2101, LLC: Trey Schott) wants to rezone 63 acres in order to proceed with the mixed-use development, which an attorney representing the developer said would take 10 to 15 years before all of the proposed homes, offices and retail spaces are built. Also on tonight's P&Z agenda is a public hearing on a request to rezone 183 acres at 2001 Lexington Road (also known as the Backer property) in order to develop a residential neighborhood that proposes 532 residential lots. Anyone commenting on the proposed development will have three minutes to speak during tonight's hearing, but written comments may also be submitted at the meeting. Both Backer properties – 2101 and 2001 Lexington Road – are located across Lexington Road from the Methodist Home. Development plans for a proposed Holiday Inn Express on the U.S. 60 Bypass at Lexington Road, an industrial use – More Than A Bakery – on Big Sink Pike, a relocation of Agility Gymnastics to 160 Frankfort Street and an expansion of a parking lot/truck maneuvering area at Clark Distributing (104 Fieldview Drive) are also on tonight's agenda. Additionally, a public hearing is scheduled on an amended development plan and preliminary subdivision plat for 74 single-family residential lots at Edmonds Cross, a residential neighborhood on Huntertown Road and Edmonds Crossing.
