A subcommittee of the Versailles-Midway-Woodford County Planning and Zoning Commission will continue its work to update the Comprehensive Plan after a regular meeting of the Planning Commission tonight (Thursday) at 6:30 in the second-floor courtroom of the Woodford County Courthouse. During a public hearing on the land-use plan's goals and objectives in February, the future of Woodford County was discussed by many who spoke. Several people offered their views on why the Versailles urban service boundary should or should not be expanded before the Comprehensive Plan has been reviewed and (possibly) updated. Those comments came before an April hearing on a request to amend the current Comp Plan in order to expand the Versailles urban service boundary to accommodate a proposed mixed-used development on 405 acres at 1450 Lexington Road. The request to rezone 405 acres (Edgewood Farm property) was lauded and criticized during the public hearing on the mixed-use proposal to develop a site for a new Bluegrass Community Hospital and land for future industrial uses. The Planning Commission took no action on the zone-change or Comp Plan amendment requests at its May 12 meeting. The commission could take action on those requests and a request to rezone 183 acres at 2001 Lexington Road (a proposed residential neighborhood with 532 lots) during its meeting tonight. The Comp Plan committee's work session begins following the regular meeting.
