Margaret Lay, 95, widow of Herman Eugene Lay, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, at her residence in Versailles.
Born on Nov. 25, 1926, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Rosa Fox Burgess. She was a former cook for the Woodford County High School for 25 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Lois Jean Hall-Workman, Versailles; and Rita (Tony) Carol Puckett, Illinois; and Charlotte (Robert) A. Osborne, Versailles; two sons, Dale (Mary) Monroe Cole and Marshall (Deborah) Lee Cole III, both of Versailles, a sister, Lucille White, Lawrenceburg; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Louise Rowe; and a brother, William Burgess Lancaster.
Services were conducted Monday, Nov. 14, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Versailles Cemetery.
