Midway City Council approved a permit application by Midway University for an inaugural football parade on Friday, October 20, at this week’s meeting. Councilmember Sara Hicks was absent. The parade will begin at 5:00 p.m. The parade route is still being planned with input from the Woodford County Fire Department and Versailles Police Department. Ellen Gregory, Midway University’s vice president for marketing and communications, said she was hoping for a lot of local participation. She has been getting input from the Midway Merchants Association and is also working to include the Woodford County High School Marching Band. The university’s football team will play that Saturday at 1 p.m. Two ordinances received second readings: the city will issue Industrial Revenue Bonds for the benefit of Lakeshore Learning for the construction of a new warehouse and the city’s real estate/personal property/watercraft tax rates which remain the same as last year were approved.
