Sentencing

Christopher Harris, 40, of Versailles, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and pay a $250 fine for second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault (minor injury/misdemeanor) and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (misdemeanor).

Mark Anthony West, 56, of Paris, was ordered to serve 30 days in home incarceration for third-degree assault (police/probation officer), unlawful possession of a weapon on school property, resisting arrest (misdemeanor) and menacing (misdemeanor). The remainder of a three-year prison sentence probated for five years.

Plea

Daniel Washington Childress, 26, of Lexington, pleaded guilty to trafficking in marijuana (8 ounces to less than 5 pounds) and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor). The commonwealth recommended two years in prison. Charges of second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, license to be in possession (misdemeanor) and speeding (18 mph over, a traffic violation) were dismissed under the plea agreement.

Arraignment

Brandon L. Wilson, 34, of Versailles, pleaded not guilty to first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

Police Reports

Versailles police responded to 11 non-injury accidents and 3 injury accidents. The Sun did not receive the police crime reports by press time.

On Oct. 30, an eye-witness said an unknown truck pulling a cattle trailer ran the stop sign at Payne’s Depot turning left into the eastbound land of  Old Frankfort Pike forcing the east bound vehicle being driven by Angelina Sigala to swerve into and through a stone fence. Sigala was transported to Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

On Nov. 1, Abigail Stewart was stopped in her vehicle at the redlight on U.S. 60 Bypass and Merewood Drive when a car driven by Antonio Gonzalez rearended her. Stewart was transported to Bluegrass Community Hospital.

On Nov. 3, Robert Gant was turning into the entrance of Wendy’s on Lexington Road when he was rearended by a vehicle being driven by Ismael Sanchez. Gant was transported to Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Fire Reports

City

The Versailles Fire Department EMTs made 24 EMS calls, three car seat installations, and conducted one fire inspection from Nov. 6  through Nov. 10.

On Nov. 6, firefighters responded to a fire alarm on School House Road and found no fire conditions, and responded to a natural gas leak on Clifton Road.

On Nov. 8, they responded to a fire alarm on School House Road and found no fire conditions, and responded to anon-injury vehicle accident on Main Street.

On Nov. 9, they responded to a natural gas leak on Russel Avenue.

On Nov. 10, they responded to a natural gas leak on Lindon Drive.

County

The Woodford County Fire Department made four EMS calls from Nov. 5  through Nov. 11.

On Nov. 5, firefighters responded to a false alarm on Lexington Road.

On Nov. 6, they responded to a smoke detector activation on Huntertown Road.

On Nov. 7, they responded to a false alarm on Grassy Springs Road due to system trouble.

On Nov. 8, they responded to an odor scare on Colony Drive, and a controlled burn on Scotts Ferry Road.

On Nov. 10, they responded to a vehicle accident on Pisgah Pike.

On Nov. 11, they responded to a controlled burn on Mundy’s Landing, a lock out rescue of a cat in a car, and installed a car seat at the station on Big Sink Road.
