Midway Toastmasters was recently recognized as the Community Club of the Year in Toastmasters District 40, which consists of 107 clubs. This is the second such award the club has won in the last five years.

This annual honor is awarded to “a club that not only thrives within its own membership but also makes a lasting impact on the wider Toastmasters Community,” according to District 40 Immediate Past Director Wendy Simmons.

She added that Midway “exemplifies the heart of a community club working together, lifting each other up, and demonstrating the very best of Toastmasters.”

Midway Toastmasters was also very involved in the putting on the 2025 District 40 Conference, which was held in Lexington in May. Club Vice President of Education Arlynn McMahon led that effort as the conference chair.

Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches communication and leadership skills through a worldwide network serving more than 265,000 memberships in more than 13,800 clubs in 149 countries.

Midway Toastmasters meets every Monday at 6 p.m. in the basement of the Little Memorial Library on the Midway University campus. Meetings are open to the public and visitors are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact the club at nick@safetyreloaded.org or 859-397-5068.
