Woodford County blessed with volunteers
A Woodford County (WC) volunteer is a loving, caring person who offers their time, maybe a little or a lot, their energy, their talents, their services and their willingness to work to GIVE (maybe their own money) and WORK WITH NO PAY!
Woodford County is so, so BLESSED to have many volunteers serving the county in many ways throughout the year. Not just at the holidays! They’re not looking for praise or their picture in The Woodford Sun. Just good neighbors!
You will find WC volunteers working every week on Mondays and Thursdays at the WC food pantry, as well as Senior Day every month and other special collections. Doing pickups and deliveries.
WC volunteers work long hours, day and night, for the WC Fair each summer, including helping with Special Needs Day, truck and tractor pulls and homemakers, who are always helping, crafting, teaching.
WC volunteers work with WC Habitat for Humanity each summer to build and provide one or more homes for deserving WC neighbors.
WC volunteers serve the WC Salvation Army from Thanksgiving through Christmas each year, and participate in the Red Kettle Campaign at our local Kroger (at both doors) and Save A Lot, where all of the money received stays in the county to help our WC neighbors when needed.
WC volunteers can be seen giving a tour or planting a tree or garden at our Jack Jouett House, WC’s historical jewel for WC students, the public, tourists and others, and at the Huntertown Community Interpretive Park.
WC volunteers can be seen keeping our ballfields, road fairways, Falling Springs and other parks mowed and beautiful throughout the summer.
I could go on and on.
Please, if you see any of these volunteers – say THANKS!
Why do volunteers do what they do? Because they love God and their neighbor!
Thank you, WC volunteers, for all you do to help us keep on keeping on.
