Jason Gribbins
Woodford County Public Schools (WCPS) has announced that Jason Gribbins has been hired as its new director of finance.
“I am excited to join an outstanding team and work alongside school leaders and the community to build upon the strong tradition of student excellence in Woodford County,” Gribbins said in a WCPS news release.
He and his wife live in Lawrenceburg and have three children: Mason, Jacob and Emma.
Gribbons “has a proven track record of financial oversight and leadership that truly put him at the top of the list in terms of candidates,” WCPS Superintendent Lori Jones told the Sun.
She said Gribbons will oversee budgeting, internal auditing and purchasing, and has a very clear direction and vision for WCPS.
Asked the status of her restructuring of Central Office, Jones said she will take her recommendations on job descriptions for positions being abolished and created to the Woodford County Board of Education at its February meeting. She said Gribbins will begin his duties as WCPS director of finance in February.
Shane Smith resigned as chief operations officer/finance director of WCPS last October. Josh Rayburn serves as the interim chief operations officer. He and Jones will work very closely with Gribbins, Jones told the Sun during a telephone interview on Wednesday. Five applications were received for the vacant finance director position, said Jones.
“We are honored to welcome Gribbins to Team Woodford District Leadership. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the military, K-12 education leadership, and higher education leadership,” Jones said in the WCPS news release.
Gribbins currently serves as the director of evaluation at Western Governors University, leading evaluation teams that support over 58,000 students in the School of Technology, the release stated.
As a communications electronics technician in the Marines, Gribbins developed a strong foundation in leadership, operations and education. Throughout his military service, he held multiple leadership roles and served as a technical and vocational instructor. He has served in higher education as an adjunct professor as well as in an executive role for PK-12 education, according to the release.
It also stated that Gribbins managed operations, gained experience in administration, and participated in budgeting and financial planning initiatives.
He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2005 and a Master of Business Administration in finance degree in 2007 from Touro University. He later completed a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership at Liberty University in 2010 and an Education Specialist degree in 2012. Most recently, Gribbins earned his Doctor of Education degree from the University of the Cumberlands, according to the release.
