The Democratic Women’s Club of Woodford County has announced two $1,000 scholarships for residents of Woodford County – one for female graduating high school seniors and the other for non-traditional female students. The application deadline is April 8.
The first scholarship is for students planning to attend an accredited, post-secondary institution such as a community college, university, trade school or vocational program. Applications must be postmarked by April 8. Contact Amy Tucker, counseling registrar at Woodford County High School, for information about the application.
The other scholarship is for non-traditional female students who plan to pursue post-secondary education. This scholarship is designed to support women who are returning to school, changing careers or resuming their education after a gap.
Questions about the non-traditional student scholarship and instructions for how to get the application material can be obtained by emailing: fireflyfarmpa@me.com.
The two $1,000 scholarships may be used for tuition, fees or other education-related expenses and will be paid directly to the recipient’s school. Applications will be reviewed by the club’s scholarship committee, and finalists may be invited for a virtual or in-person interview.
Applicants do not need to be registered Democrats, but should demonstrate a commitment to democratic values and community service.
The Women’s Club values diversity and encourages applicants from all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Applicants must also be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or DACA recipient.
