By Penny Baker,

Woodford County Coroner

One of the greatest honors of my life has been serving as your Woodford County Coroner over the past four years. This role has allowed me to live out my lifelong passion for helping others – especially during some of the most difficult and emotional moments families can face.

With many years of experience in funeral service, I have had the privilege of walking alongside countless families with compassion, care and respect. Those experiences have shaped my commitment to ensuring that every family we serve is treated with dignity and understanding.

As Woodford County Coroner, I take seriously the responsibility to investigate and determine the cause and manner of death – one of the most important functions in public safety and law enforcement. I have worked to strengthen this office by focusing not only on professionalism and accuracy, but also on communication. Before completing a death certificate, I personally make it a priority to speak with the next of kin—answering questions and helping families better understand the process during a difficult time.

Over the past four years, I have improved the efficiency and operations of the Coroner’s Office by building a team of dedicated, highly professional deputies who take pride in their service. I have also expanded our facility on Big Sink Road, adding a much-needed refrigeration unit – completed at a fraction of the previously projected cost – ensuring we are better equipped to serve our community.

I am proud of the strong, cooperative relationships I have built with local and state law enforcement, the fiscal court and others involved in death investigations. Working together, we have created a more responsive and effective system for Woodford County.

I remain committed to serving our community with integrity, compassion and professionalism. I respectfully ask for your vote in the May 19 Republican Primary so I can continue this important work.
