THE SECOND ANNUAL SPEED INTERVIEW MEET at Woodford County High School was held May 5 and 6. The event was held as part of the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program, a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting young people in achieving academic and career success. Woodford County employers were invited to the high school to interview and meet with students for six minutes, and WCHS teacher Amanda Moffett said the event “proved to be an amazing experience for my students.” Interviewers were from More Than a Bakery, Eckert’s Orchards, Life Adventure Center, Kentucky Utilities, City National Bank, Buffalo Trace Distillery, Midway Insurance Group, Mayor of Versailles, Versailles Public Works Director, Junior Achievement, the Family Resource Center and many others. Moffett said WCHS students in JAG are learning career development and personal development competencies, and this experience helps bridge the gap between school and the outside workforce. Photographed during the event were, from left, Bart Miller, Versailles Public Works director, with Jackson Pinks (WCHS 12th grader), Izzy Lawson (11th grader) with Cassie Prather, director of the Woodford County Health Department, June Barbour of Kroger with Elijah McCane Jackson (11th grader), and Teresa Gutierrez Cortes (10th grader), being interviewed by Tara Barbour of Kroger.
