The Woodford County Conservation District held its annual “Spring Fling” awards dinner during the last week of April, a 50-year tradition.

During the event, district supervisors, who are elected, recognized over 120 students who were joined by their families and county agriculture leaders.

The dinner was provided and cooked by the Woodford County Cattlemen’s Association, with the Woodford County Fiscal Court, Kentucky Farm Bureau and the Kentucky Division of Conservation acting as award sponsors.

Every winning student of the art and writing contests received a cash prize.

The teachers of the two county-level winners also receive $100 awards as an incentive to continue participation in the program. Stephanie Wooten, Versailles Montessori, and Mary Ann Adams, Southside Elementary, were this year’s winners.

In addition, the district presented scholarship awards to two WCHS seniors, Eugenio Langdoc and Samuel Taylor.
