Â
Woodford, our county of lush green,
the trickling streams,
the sweet mash upon the air,
golden tassels on the shocks,
mares and foals grazing on bluegrass,
the goldenrod blooms,
the locust blossoms sweet.
Â
The bluegrass fields stretch and stir
beneath my feet,
forever rooted in my Woodford heart.
The soil, so deep and rich.
Â
From your sweet limestone springs
come many equine champions, born to run,
and let’s not forget the bourbon, too.
Â
The golden crop of burley is all but gone.
Now we see the dinosaurs in our tobacco barns,
while cattle graze
where tobacco grew.
Â
We honor our past with grateful eyes,
blessed with a future
that will never die.
Â
Oh, Woodford, oh, Woodford,
how grateful we are.
You held me close.
My Woodford, my Woodford,
your worth and beauty
will always be in our sight.
Â
You have distilled my spirit
through this Woodford soil.
Oh, Woodford, oh, Woodford,
my home eternal, Oh Woodford.
