Former Midway mayor and president of the Kentucky League of Cities Tom Bozarth, The Woodford Sun, the Woodford County Farm Bureau, the Woodford County Democratic Party and the Woodford County Republican Party will be holding four Candidate Forums this fall for nearly all of the elected offices in Midway, Versailles and Woodford County.Â
This is the first time this group has worked together to offer the voters of Woodford County an opportunity to hear the candidates for the various offices address the issues and concerns on the minds of voters, as they decide who to send to these important offices on election day, Nov. 3.
Each of the four Candidate Forums will begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m.; three will be moderated by former Fox 56 news anchor Marvin Bartlett, with the other moderator to be announced soon.Â
The Candidate Forums will be held as follows:
September 14 (Monday): Midway City Council, Woodford County Fiscal Court Magistrate District 1 (which covers Midway) and Woodford County Jailer. To be held at Midway University’s Duthie Auditorium.
September 22 (Tuesday): Versailles City Council and Versailles Mayor. To be held at Woodford County High School (WCHS) auditorium.
September 24 (Thursday): Woodford County Fiscal Court Magistrate Districts 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8. To be held at the WCHS auditorium.
October 1 (Thursday): Woodford County Attorney, Woodford County Clerk and Woodford County Judge-Executive. To be held at the WCHS auditorium.
Invitations have been sent to all candidates, and it is hoped by the organizers that there will be100 percent participation.Â
All of the questions to be posed to the candidates at the Candidate Forums by the moderator will come from the public. Next week, the specific rules of the Forums and how Woodford County residents can submit questions will be announced in the Sun and on each of the organizations’ Facebook pages.
Due to time and space considerations, there will not be a forum for the Woodford County Conservation District supervisor seats or the Kentucky House and Senate seats on the ballot.Â
Woodford County Fiscal Court Magistrate District 5 and Woodford County Coroner offices were decided in the May primary.
