Democratic Women’s Club birthday
The Democratic Women’s Club of Woodford County (DWCWC) celebrated its first birthday on Monday, July 20. Forty-one of the club’s members celebrated with a potluck dinner at the home of Susan Hammonds in Versailles. I’d like to share with the community what our organization is all about.
Many people ask me who we are and what we stand for:
DWCWC is about “Big D Democrats” supporting “small d” democracy in the community we live in.
We are all about taking the division out of politics and putting people before party. Our goal is to support democratic ideas by not only supporting like-minded candidates, but also by supporting the community as a whole. Helping everyone, not just helping those that agree with us.
As President John “Jack” Kennedy said, a rising tide lifts all boats. And that is what our goal is. To be that rising tide that lifts the entire community.
Through scholarships, food pantry donations, free carnivals and other community service, we can model what democracy should look like.
Happy Birthday DWCWC. I am looking forward to another year of service with the dynamic Democratic women of Woodford County!
