KATIE’S PROVISIONS, the newest member of the Versailles’ South Main Street business owner “club,” held its Woodford Chamber ribbon cutting last week. Katie’s Provisions, owned and operated by baker Katie Arthur, is an artisanal small-batch bakery at 187 S. Main Street, next to Tiny Bird Books. While Arthur has had a regular “pop-up” shop in front of the store while it was being fully remodeled as a state-of-the-art bakery, which has helped her begin to develop a loyal following, she officially opened her doors for the Gilmore Girls Weekend two weekends ago. The store offers a variety of sourdough and yeasted breads, crusty and laminated pastries like croissants, cookies and items. Arthur said, “Great food doesn’t need to be complicated. My breads and pastries are made by hand in small batches with limited ingredients to serve my community with delicious, wholesome products.” Versailles Mayor Laura Dake, who is a customer, said, “Katie’s is a place you can come every day or week for fresh-baked items and bread loaves.” Arthur, holding the scissors, is joined by Dake and Woodford County Judge-Executive James Kay, and in ball cap, Chamber President Cory Cooley.
