Bessie Eaves Bain, 94, of Versailles, passed away on Oct. 17, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was born to Virgil and Minnie Tate Eaves on Oct. 16, 1932.
Bessie was a graduate of Versailles High School and a lifelong career employee of Texas Instruments.
She was married to Donald Lee Bain for 61 years. They had three children, Steven Allen Bain, Dewey Thomas Bain and Sally Bain Semones.
Their pride and joy were their grandchildren, Christopher (Lyndsay) Semones and Ashley Semones (Kevin) Cummins, and great-grandchildren, Ayden and Avery Cummins, and Mattie and Cora Semones.
Bessie was known to many as Mayne. She was a Christian and a believer in Jesus Christ. She devoted her life to God, family and her community.
Her love for art and painting was shared with so many through her county Extension service classes across the state. She loved connecting with students who later became lifetime friends.
Woodford County, Versailles, Kentucky, was her lifelong home. She took pride in volunteering and was involved with many organizations: The Woodford County Homemakers, Woodford County Fair, State Fair Pride of the Counties, the Quilt Trail, the Jack Jouett House, Neighbors Helping Neighbors and so many more. Her passion was giving back, and that she did, twofold. She brought so much light to everything and everyone she touched. She was a pillar of strength, warmth and grace.
Bessie leaves behind a devoted daughter, Sally, and son-in-law, Phillip Semones; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Marjorie Bain Eaves; and a host of sweet nieces and nephews.
She had a good, long life. She taught and led by example with Christian values, as well as being a good neighbor and humanitarian of good will.
Bessie will be missed by so many because she touched so many while she was here.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held Nov. 1, from 2 to 5 p.m.at the home of Phillip and Sally Semones, 119 Old Hickory Lane, Versailles, KY 40383.
