Karen McDonald Pittman, 74, of Versailles, passed away peacefully at her home on Oct. 22, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
A woman of deep faith and an even bigger heart, Karen’s love for her family and her Lord was evident to anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. She had a special gift for making people feel welcome, loved and never alone. Karen truly knew no stranger, and if you met her once, there was a good chance you would leave feeling like an old friend.
Karen had a giving heart and spent much of her time bringing smiles to others, especially through her frequent visits to local nursing homes. She visited Daisy Hill so often to spread a little happiness that one might have reasonably wondered if she had a room there herself!
When she wasn’t busy crocheting or visiting with friends, Karen enjoyed taking a good country drive. Of course, if that drive happened to pass a Cracker Barrel, stopping was not up for debate. You were going in, whether you had planned to or not! In her younger years, Karen and the love of her life, Donnie Wayne Pittman, could often be found at Hojo’s, where the two of them could clear the dance floor with their moves and their love for one another.
But above all else, Karen’s greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren held an especially precious place in her heart and likely received the first hug whenever she walked through the door. Her love was generous, her laughter was contagious and her presence made life a little brighter for everyone around her.  Karen was seen by just about everyone in town after spending 40+ years working as the office manager for Hornback Realty of Versailles.
Karen will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert Frazier of Versailles and Michael Frazier of Sadiville; her sister, Peggy Herald of Lexington; her grandchildren, Kina Frazier and Zachary Frazier; her great-nephew, Jacob Scrivner; and her great-niece, Jessica Bryant.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donnie Wayne Pittman, and her parents, William Summers McDonald and Mary Brown McDonald Bradley.
A funeral service honoring Karen’s life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home, with Nick Green officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Rose Crest Cemetery in Versailles.
Pallbearers will be Zack Frazier, Jacob Scrivner, Greg Means, Daniel Padgett, Patrick Brown and Josh Westfall.
Karen leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, laughter and unconditional love. She spent her life reminding others that a little companionship, a warm hug and a caring heart can make all the difference. Though her family will miss her dearly, they can take comfort in knowing she is reunited with Donnie, likely already dancing with him once again. And while there may be no more country drives or Cracker Barrel stops ahead for Karen here on earth, her love will continue to guide and comfort those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Glen Creeks Baptist Church. Friends and family are encouraged to share messages of love and support on Karen’s tribute wall at www.blackburnandward.com.
