Visit Woodford, aka the Woodford County Tourism Commission, kicked off its annual Burger Mania last Sunday. The month-long celebration shows off the creativity of Woodford County’s chefs and bakers, while offering a “taste of Woodford” to locals and visitors. The event is set-up to crown the “Best Burger” in town.
Divided into three rounds of voting – March 15-21, 22-26 and 27-31 – the field is winnowed until the champion is declared on April 1.
Folks are invited to pick up a Burger Mania card at either the Chamber of Commerce’s offices on S. Main Street or at any participating restaurant. Then, as you go around and eat the hamburgers offered at special prices, get your card stamped at each of the locations – though the card is not required to participate in prizes awarded to voters.
Beginning on March 15, Burger mania participants are encouraged to go to the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce Facebook page to cast your vote for the best burger you had that week. Voting restarts at the beginning of each round and continues every week until the winner is declared. The special burgers will be offered the entire month, and you can vote during each round.
Given Woodford County is nationally famous for its culinary scene, there should be a run on weight-loss drugs and gym memberships in April! To learn more and see all of the restaurants participating in burger mania, see the ad on page 4.
