Midway News Concert benefitting Recovery for Katy and Blood Drive Sunday afternoon, many family and friends of Katy McDaniel came together to help Katy in her recovery after her alleged domestic violence attack in October. A concert and blood drive were held at Northside Elementary School to raise money towards Katy’s recovery. Her husband, Kenneth McDaniel, is accused of stabbing her 26 times and is charged with first degree assault. Katy has had several surgeries but needs money to help pay for her recovery and future surgeries. This is where family and friends came in to raise awareness for domestic violence, feature a blood drive to help others needing blood after an accident or traumatic event, and a concert to raise money for Katy and her young daughter, Lily, as they rebuild their lives. The Bloodmobile came to Northside and many concerned Midway residents came to donate blood or listen to the concert, all to help Katy’s recovery. It is estimated that around $3,000 was raised Sunday and around 25-30 people donated blood. Altogether, since the Katy McDaniel GoFundMe account was started in October more than $69,162 has been donated. Music was provided by Veljeeta featuring Sherri Dan & Jeff from Velvet Elvis, Maggie Lander, and Boogie G and the Titanics. The Woodford County Library set up a crafting station for people of all ages to create cards to send to Katy, and Railroad Drug & Oldetime Soda hosted an ice cream cone station with donations suggested. All proceeds go directly to Katy’s recovery. If you would like to donate, please visit Katy’s Go Fund Me page – gofundme.com/recovery-for-lily-and-katy.
