Seasons 99 for 1 Warming Center
Seasons will open an overnight warming center for unhoused persons in Woodford County, Monday-Thursday and Saturday, 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., when temperatures are 30-degrees or less. The warming center will not be open on Fridays or Sundays.
Volunteers are needed as overnight chaperones (three shifts to choose from: 6-11 p.m., 11 p.m.-3 a.m., 3 a.m.-7 a.m.) and kitchen staff (5 to 8 p.m.). Go to Sign-Up Genius, www.signupgenius.com, to choose a date/shift.

AARP Tax Aide Program
The Woodford County Library will host the AARP Tax Aide program from 9 to 11:30 a.m. every Thursday and Saturday until April 11 to assist low to moderate income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older, to prepare their tax return and answer tax related questions. Services will also be available at the Midway Branch on Wednesday, March 4 and 11. Bring Social Security cards and photo identification for taxpayer and dependents, as well as all forms related to income and deductions such as W-2, health insurance, unemployment compensation statements, all 1099 forms, childcare information, receipts or canceled checks, if itemizing deductions, and any other relevant information. A copy of last year’s tax return is encouraged. Taxpayers should arrive before 11:30 a.m. on each day of service. Questions should be directed to the tax aide foundation at 1-888-227-7669.
Woodford County Historical Society
The Woodford County Historical Society will meet Thursday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m. at its facility, 121 Rose Hill Avenue. The speaker will be Larry Blackford Sr. whose topic will be “A Slice of African-Americans and their History in Woodford County.” Guests are welcome to attend.
Woodford County Democratic Party
The Woodford County Democratic Party meeting will be held Wednesday, March 18, at 5:30 p.m. at the Courthouse. All registered Democrats are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Legally Blonde: The Musical
The Woodford County High School will be performing “Legally Blonde: the Musical” Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 21, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m. All shows will take place at Woodford County Middle School.
The first-ever Celebrity Jeopardy in Woodford County will be held Thursday, March 26, at 6 p.m. at Spark Community Café with contestants Mayor Brian Traugott, Mayor Grayson Vandegrift and Judge Executive James Kay. All questions will be about the history of Woodford County and Kentucky and all proceeds go to feeding the food insecure in WC. TIckets can be purchased online at Eventbrite.com or by emailing Emily at email@example.com. Tickets are $10 each. Food and drink available for purchase at Spark that evening.
Frontier Nursing University

Woodford County Gideons
The Feb. 13 meeting featured a guest speaker from Anderson County, whose talk included advice on procuring church services. Reports were heard and goals have been set for 2020. A combination pastor appreciation and new member breakfast is set for the early spring. The next scheduled meeting will be Thursday, March 12, at the Senior Center at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
Mothers of Preschoolers
The Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), a group of moms who are expecting or have infants through preschool kids, will have bi-monthly meetings on Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at King’s Way Church. A Time to Talk
This is a support group for caregivers, parents and loved ones for those looking for a safe space to share, learn and receive support, as you walk with your loved ones through the struggles of drug addiction. It meets the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at El Calvarro Church (Church of the Nazarene), Fellowship Hall, 721 Huntertown Road, Versailles.

(M&Ms) is a 501c3 non-profit after school program for middle school students whose mission is “to enhance academic achievement through mentoring.” The program is available Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. We are always looking for high school, college and adult mentors. We will learn all about shiitakes and then drill and inoculate logs for participants to take home (two logs per participant).
