A Juneteenth community event will be held Friday, June 25, from 6 to 9
p.m. on West Green Street. Speakers will be Desiree Jackson and
Associate Pastor William Saunders. There will be a featured performance
by Sankofa Drumline as well as vendors, music, food and prizes.
Human Rights Commission
The Versailles-Woodford-Midway Human Rights Commission will host its
July 1 meeting at the Big Spring Park Pavilion (large shelter) at 6:30
p.m. Mr. Micah Lynn will serve as the guest speaker. Mr. Lynn will
discuss his research into the 100-year-old murder/lynching of Black
Midway resident, Richard W. James. The Commission will also distribute
literature regarding the Human Rights Commission’s objectives as well as
encouraging suggestions on what the Versailles-Woodford-Midway
communities expect of its Commission. The public is invited and
refreshments will be served.
Yoga at Big Spring Park
Yoga will be offered for free, though donations for the instructors are
accepted, every Saturday morning through August from 8:30 to 9:30 am. in
the back of Big Spring Park on the soccer field. Park in the Clifton
Road lot and walk down the sidewalk. Bring a mat or towel and wear
comfortable clothes. All are welcome, no experience necessary. Call

Mentors & Meals
Mentors & Meals (M&Ms) Summer Program “M&Ms Meet-Ups” is now open for
enrollment to any currently enrolled M&M student. The M&M Meet-Ups will
take place Tuesday-Thursday, 12-5:30 p.m. until July 31. The Meet-Ups
will be both educational and fun. Students will attend the library teen
programs, work on math skills, and end the summer with an overnight camp
at The Life Adventure Center. Please direct all inquiries and questions

Woodford County Gideons
The next meeting of the Woodford County Gideons will be Thursday, July
8, at the Versailles United Methodist Church (VUMC).
The group’s regular meeting was held at the church on June 10. The
county fair distribution was set up, a permanent meeting place was
changed to VUMC, goals for the year were put in place and other business
