CASA Superhero Run
Casa of Lexington will have a 5K run/walk on Aug. 21 at WinStar Farm,
3001 Pisgah Pike, at 9 a.m. A 1k run will be held for kids 12 and under
at 8:30 a.m. A festival will be held at the start/finish line area,
featuring food, inflatables, a petting zoo, face painting, photo ops
with superheroes, games and more. Registration is available at
Kentucky Blood Center
The Kentucky Blood Center will have a blood drive from 11 a.m. until
3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Falling Springs Recreation Center
multi-purpose room. Donors who give until September 11 will be entered
to win a 2021 AWD Toyota Camry. All donors will receive a $15 Walmart
gift card. Appointments preferred but walk-ins welcome. To schedule a

Human Rights Commission
The Versailles-Woodford-Midway Human Rights Commission will host its
Aug. 5 meeting at Spark Community Cafe at 6:30 p.m. Micah Lynn will be
the guest speaker and will discuss his research into the 1921 lynching
of Richard W. James, a Black resident of Midway. The commission will
also distribute literature regarding objectives and encouraging
suggestions on what the community expects of it. The public is invited
and refreshments will be served.
Woodford County Tourism
Woodford County Tourism will not have an August board meeting. The next
board meeting will be Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. at the WC Tourism office at 126
S Main St
Yoga at Big Spring Park
Yoga will be offered for free, though donations for the instructors are
accepted, every Saturday morning through August from 8:30 to 9:30 am. in
the back of Big Spring Park on the soccer field. Park in the Clifton
Road lot and walk down the sidewalk. Bring a mat or towel and wear
comfortable clothes. All are welcome, no experience necessary. Call

Woodford County Gideons
The Gideons’ next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, at
Versailles United Methodist Church.
At the last meeting, held July 8, the regular format was replaced by a
visit from the Area 10 Director who spoke and answered questions on the
subject of increasing our membership. Plans will be laid for contacting
new member candidates and preparing for a new member dinner.
Mentors & Meals
Mentors & Meals (M&Ms) Summer Program “M&Ms Meet-Ups” is now open for
enrollment to any currently enrolled M&M student. The M&M Meet-Ups will
take place Tuesday-Thursday, 12-5:30 p.m. until July 31. The Meet-Ups
will be both educational and fun. Students will attend the library teen
programs, work on math skills, and end the summer with an overnight camp
at The Life Adventure Center. Please direct all inquiries and questions
