Seasons 99 for 1 Shelter
An overnight shelter for homeless persons in Woodford County will be provided Monday-Thursday and Saturday, 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. until March 31, 2020. The shelter will not be open on Fridays or Sundays.  
Volunteers are needed each night to serve as overnight chaperones (three shifts to choose from: 6-11 p.m., 11 p.m.-3 a.m., 3-7 a.m.) and cooks/serving/kitchen clean-up staff (5:30-8 p.m.).

Christmas at Callie’s
Now through Dec. 18, Callie’s Homestyle Restaurant will have a “Blessing Boot Tree.” Take a stocking for a child and return wrapped boots by Wednesday, Dec. 18. This event is sponsored by Callie’s staff, Rep. Joe Graviss, Versailles Lion’s Club, American Legion, Sioux and Bruce Finney, Councilman Mike Coleman and a host of WC volunteers. 

Woodford County Retired Teachers Association
The Woodford County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Ag Resource Center. The meal will be $12 each. Everyone attending is asked to bring an ornament. Please RSVP to WCRTAprez@gmail.com.

Woodford County Woman’s Club
The members of the Woodford County Woman’s Club Garden Department will travel to Shelbyville on Dec. 12 to visit the Wakefield-Scearce Galleries and to have lunch at nearby Science Hill. Community Trust Bank Open House
The Community Trust Bank’s annual Christmas Open House will be Friday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at both the main and branch locations.

DAR Meeting
The next DAR meeting will be Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Woodford County Library with guest speaker Cheri Daniels from the Kentucky Historical Society discussing teas and teapots.

Christmas Concert
A free Christmas concert by the Bluegrass Area Jazz Association (BAJA) will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at St. Leo Catholic Church, 295 Huntertown Road.

WC Business and Professional Women’s Club
The Woodford County Business and Professional Women’s Club will hold their December meeting at the Paddock Restaurant on Monday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. The group will collect children’s books for the Literacy Campaign. The guest speaker will be Angie Stewart of RAW.  She will speak to the group about the recovery initiative. Members are asked to bring personal items that will be donated to women in recovery. All are invited to attend this Christmas celebration, and there is no obligation to bring donations. Call President Brenda Richards at 846-4471 to make reservations.

Blood Drive
The Kentucky Blood Center will have a blood drive Thursday, Dec. 26, from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Falling Springs Recreation Center’s multi-purpose room at 275 Beasley Drive.

Woodford Theatre
The Woodford Theatre will present “The Twelve Dates of Christmas” Dec. 6-8; Dec. 14-15; and Dec. 19-21.
“Disney’s Frozen Jr.” will be presented Dec. 7-8; Dec. 13-14; and Dec. 21-22.

Mothers of Preschoolers
The Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), a group of moms who are expecting or have infants through preschool kids, will have bi-monthly meetings on Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at King’s Way Church. A Time to Talk
This is a support group for caregivers, parents and loved ones for those looking for a safe space to share, learn and receive support, as you walk with your loved ones through the struggles of drug addiction. It meets the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at El Calvarro Church (Church of the Nazarene), Fellowship Hall, 721 Huntertown Road, Versailles.

Mentors & Meals
(M&Ms) is a 501c3 non-profit after school program for middle school students whose mission is “to enhance academic achievement through mentoring.”  The program is available Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.  We are always looking for high school, college and adult mentors. Versailles Kiwanis Club
The Versailles Kiwanis Club meets the first Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and the third Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Callie’s. Visitors are welcome.

Midway Toastmasters

Extension Events
Dec. 7 – 40th Annual Secret Santa, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sponsored by the Woodford County Extension Homemakers. Children ages 4-12 can shop for family and friends. Handmade gifts are available for $3 and under. Bring your children and enjoy the festivities. Please bring a shopping list with no more than 10 names and small bills.

4-H Culinary Challenge Informational Meeting – Tuesday, Dec. 10, 5:30 p.m.  For 4-Hers currently in high school. Are you interested in the Food Network show “Chopped?” Woodford Co. 4-H is putting together a team to compete against other counties across the state to create a dish judged by a panel of expert chefs. The catch? A bag of mystery ingredients that has to be incorporated into the recipes. Holiday Crafts Special Project Night – Wednesday, Dec. 18, 6 pm.  Join us for fun holiday-themed crafts and snacks. Cost is $5, mail a check or pay in-person at our office from now to the night of the event. Limited to 30 participants, so RSVP by Dec. 16.
